Caesars Adopt App to Help Customers Navigate Casinos

Casino giants Caesars Entertainment have recently become the first land based casino to try out a new casino app which helps gamblers navigate their way around the Las Vegas casino floors.

If you have ever tried to find your way around a casino on the Las Vegas strip, you understand why this idea may be really useful.  With so many machines, tables and lights, it's ridiculously easy to get lost and most players end up stopping to place a bet.  This may work in the favour of the casinos, but Lighthouse Signal Systems have acknowledged that consumers don't and are trying to do something about it.

Based on GPS

The company is launching its indoor location system as an open source service for Android developers to work on.  Once developers make use of the system, players will be able to navigate through the vast maze of Vegas casinos, locating all the tables and bonuses they're looking for.   Indoor navigation is one of the remaining tasks that smartphones still have not yet cracked.  Outdoor navigation has been in use for years, facilitated by the satellite-supported global positioning system (GPS).  The issue is, however, that GPS doesn't work inside and finding consistent Wi-Fi connections can become tiresome.

Lighthouse Signal Systems is now launching its new service, spanning over 20 million square feet of retail and entertainment space at the leading hotels and casinos on the Strip.  Caesars Entertainment was one of the early adopters of the new technology.  The service will be made freely available to app developers, resort operators, retailers and anyone else looking to enhance their visitor experience in Sin City.  Lighthouse has said that it's the first to supply GPS-like indoor technology on a large scale at a major US metro.

Spending More Money

It is generally accepted theory that casinos want you to lose your orientation in their casinos and end up spending more money.  However, Lighthouse Co-founder Parviz Parvisi says that casinos with a multi-resort presence in Vegas will be able to benefit from cross-property circulation, something which a navigational app will facilitate.  He believes that in general, it will enhance the overall casino experience, for customers and casinos alike.  From the perspective of a resort owner, the time that a customer spends drifting around the casino lost is a missed opportunity as that time could be better spent on gaming or entertainment.

Lighthouse Signal Systems are not the only ones doing this.  Soon enough, the market will be full of products from Google, Cisco, Ekahau and Euclid to name a few.
