Station Casinos Inc. is about to launch a mobile sports wagering application just in time for the start of the American football season. Contrary to what some may think, the casino operator does not believe that the platform will take away from the Station Casino sports book.
The application is called Sports Connection and allows customers at Station Casinos to make bets on sports events through their mobile phones and tablet devices. The platform has recently been put through a field trial with gaming regulators in Nevada and passed them without a problem. During that period, the app was only promoted within Station Casino's 16 venues in Southern Nevada.
Now that the test period is completed, the casino is planning on launching an area-wide marketing campaign to promote the app in time for the start of the autumn football season.
Vice President of Sports Book Operations at Station Casinos, Art Manteris, commented saying that he thinks this is an amazing opportunity for growth within the sports wagering industry.
The company is following betting giants such as William Hill and Cantor Gaming into the mobile technology market. Despite the tight gambling legislation in the US, gaming regulators in Nevada are allowing customers to place bets on sports events on their mobile devices as long as they are physically located in the State.
Their new mobile app is linked to the customer rewards program, which according to Manteris gives them a significant advantage over other similar mobile wagering applications. Customers earn points for every wager placed on their mobile device and can claim those points inside Station Casino venues.
According to Manteris, the difference between their platform and others is that it links the application to their brick and mortar casinos. He did not provide a figure on how much they are expected to be added to their revenue figures, but he said he is sure customers will still go to the company's sports book to place bets, especially during major events throughout the college and professional season.
In order to enroll for the Station Casino's sports book, players must be 21 or older. Using Station Casinos betting lines, wagers can be placed on all major sports events through the app with a $5 minimum bet. Accounts can be reloaded with cash or credit cards and wagers can include straight bets, parlay cards, teasers, round robins, prop bets and in-game wagering.
